PROJECT ANNA KARENINA
 
Anna Karenina is a large-scale international musical that will be produced in Lahti City Theatre as Finnish-Russian cooperation. It is also an international musical theatre development project as well as a central
element in promoting and developing Lahti City as a venue for cultural travelling between the years 1999-2001.
The project receives financing from the Finnish Ministry of Education, European Community´s/Union ´s structural funds, the City of Lahti and sponsorship from Finnish business-life.
THE AIM OF THE PROJECT
The aim of the project is to produce a Finnish-Russian musical, an exceptional cooperation enterprise in the field of theatre. By means of research and development musical theatre as such becomes a brand to be
utilized in marketing Lahti in order to enhance commercial relationships as well as to develop travelling packages and reaching new clienteles particularly from St. Petersburg area. This can be done by making Lahti
City Theatre known in the area and by generating local cooperation, know-how and employment in theatre as well as other providers of cultural services and local business-life.
